New compact power supply by Siemens with universal input
With a width of only 90mm, the new Sitop PSU100M DIN rail power supply unit by Siemens is 40 percent narrower than its predecessor. At the same time, essential properties have been improved on the single-phase 24V power supply unit with its 20 Amp output current. For example the input range is wider than before – from 85 to 275 VAC, enabling connection to 110 and 230 VAC supplies without the need for switching. The wide input range also enables it to be used with DC voltage supplies ranging from 88 to 350V. The efficiency rating has risen by four percent to about 93 percent and reduces the energy consumption and heat generation in the control cabinet.
The new Sitop PSU100M unit contains an integral isolated signal contact that enables the user to monitor the operating status. For loads with a high starting current, the “Extra Power” function supplies a 30 Amp current for five seconds. To enable its use in tough environments, the unit has a rugged metal housing and a wide operating temperature range from minus 10 to plus 60 degrees Celsius.
As with all basic devices in the Sitop modular series, the new Sitop PSU100M power supply unit has a “Power Boost” function, delivering up to three times the nominal current for a short period. The short-circuit behavior is adjustable, offering the choice between switch-off with storage or constant current with an automatic restart of the output voltage. To safeguard the power supply units against primary and secondary faults, Sitop auxiliary modules are available, e.g. buffer modules and DC-UPS (uninterruptible power supply) modules.
